The CARE Center seeks to help improve the well-being of the commnity we serve. Below are a few stories how we do that.
A mother and her three teenage children, who had been living in a trailer for a year, were referred to CARE to receive assessments for housing and family counseling. The CARE Team referred the family to the EL Cajon Crisis Center to complete a housing intake. As a result, they enrolled into a long-term housing program with continuous support. The family is also receiving family counseling and employment support through CARE.
Abryana was having a hard time at school and at home. Her grades were dropping, and her behavior was becoming a problem. She had many issues going on at home. After being assessed by CARE Center staff she was referred to DETOUR F.A.N.C.Y. program. She joined in January and began attending their tutoring sessions. Her grades began to improve and F.A.N.C.Y. staff has been counseling her through her personal battles at home and helping her change her behavior at school. She has taken an active role in learning about careers and colleges she can possibly attend.
