The District Attorney's Office is committed to protecting the community through the vigorous and professional prosecution of those who violate the law.

The programs, initiatives and units listed to the left are staffed by specially trained District Attorney employees dedicated to providing the highest level of service to the community.

The District Attorney's office is responsible for prosecuting all felonies in the county of San Diego and all misdemeanor crimes in the county except the City of San Diego and the City of Poway. In 2008, the Office of the District Attorney filed on almost 18,000 felony defendants. Currently the San Diego District Attorney's Office has a 94 percent felony conviction rate -- one of the highest in the state.
