Conviction Rate
The District Attorney's Office is very proud of the fact that it has a 94.1 percent conviction rate - one of the highest in the State of California. This figure is based upon the total number of felony cases filed and the outcome of those cases; that is, whether these cases were resolved by way of conviction (guilty plea or guilty verdict), not guilty verdict, or dismissal. Officewide statistics for the year 2008 show that there were 16,171 felony cases closed, 15,263 convictions, 24 verdicts of not guilty, and 932 dismissals.
