Victim Assistance 619-531-4041

No one can imagine the range of emotions crime victims experience--except other victims and those who assist them. There is no way to prepare for the feelings of helplessness and frustration crime victims endure.

The goal of the District Attorney Victim Advocate is to provide or arrange for services to meet the material, emotional and information needs experienced by victims and witnesses, thereby allowing for faster and more complete recovery from the effects of crime.

VAP hotlineThe District Attorney Restitution Enforcement and Victim Services Division is committed to providing help and services to victims of crime who find themselves overwhelmed by their circumstances and the criminal justice system. Our advocates are equipped to offer emotional support, financial links and important information about how the system works. The intent of the program is to reduce the trauma and insensitivity that victims suffer following a crime. Advocates navigate victims through the legal system, directing them to agencies and organizations that offer assistance and emergency services.

We can answer questions unique to crime victims:

  • "How can I face the suspect in court?"
  • "I'm unable to work, so how can I pay the rent?"
  • "Who will clean up the blood?"
  • "How can I pay my medical bills?"
